I've often in the last year felt pretty torn between two worlds, so to speak. I am a young clergy person, but I was raised all my life in the denomination, and I certainly know and love the structure of the church. But I also see how ineffective we are at disciple-making, in many senses of the word. I don't know sometimes how to lead how I think I should lead to create change. I especially agree that we are trained to be chaplains!! But I know without change the church will be come increasingly irrelevant - what a terrible fate! One of my Drew friends recently wrote about being conflicted because being in pastoral ministry actually seemed to be preventing him from following God's call, prevented him from being a disciple, a sad irony.

I'm going to try to come to the meeting on the 23rd if I can swing a quick overnight, but if not, I'm definitely interested to hear how things go, etc.Beth Quickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14171030571583683180noreply@blogger.com
